Epinions Excellent Photos and Features

by  djl_76,  Dec 5, 2004
Pros: Excellent photos. 10X lens. 8 megapixel resolution. Vibration Reduction. Optional attachments.
Cons: Slow write speed. Purple fringing in certain situations. Underexposure with fully automated mode.
The Bottom Line: Buy it! Excellent pictures. Great features. If you have been using a 3 to 5 megapixel and are ready for a more serious camera this is the one.
Review: Perhaps the most common reason for poor quality photos, especially with a long zoom, is camera shake. I have had this camera for 10 days and have taken a few hundred pictures, many with a high level of zoom, all shot by hand. None have been blurry. All ...

Epinions Great camera

by  andy22111,  May 10, 2007
Pros: Excellent image quality, point-and-shoot features/ease of use, zoom
Cons: Requires tripod more than expected, Nikon proprietary accessories, bulky
The Bottom Line: The ease of use and beautiful shots will make you love this camera.
Review: I bought my 8800 a couple of years ago, mostly for the 10x zoom, and I am consistently impressed with it. The images produced are amazing and the camera is very easy to use (I am not an advanced photographer). It helps to always carry the user manual ...

by  srpsrp,  Apr 9, 2005
Pros: -capable of excelent pics. -vr is good, inreases possabilities -build quality -scence mode
Cons: -expensive batteries -flash self activates in auto mode -no ac adapter... -crippled manual focus
The Bottom Line: If you love your technology in neet little packages then get this, if your are obessed about picture quality at all costs then maybe get a D70 (as well:) )
Review: I bought the 8800 as an upgrade to my aging Finepix 4900z . I had some cash to burn and wanted something with more resolution and perhaps better picture quality along with more up to date features. I am so far very impressed by the amount of detail ...

Epinions Next best thing to DSLR

by  atherts,  May 20, 2005
Pros: Image Stabilization (VR), 10x Zoom, full control or full auto, small size, swivel LCD
Cons: Minor low light issues
The Bottom Line: Buy this camera if you want more than a point and shoot, but don't want the weight and cost of a DSLR.
Review: If you have realistic expectations, this is a great camera. It is not a DSLR so don't expect the speed and capabilities. It is not a point and shoot camera. It is a camera with a huge zoom, image stabilization and a lot of control over all factors of ...

Epinions Nikon Coolpix 8800 Digital Camera

by  famtreeman,  Dec 1, 2004
Pros: Great camera, high quality photos, color. Many settings, great movie quality, great close flash photos.
Cons: Steep learning curve if you use all the options this camera has, but worth it.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this camera. It has enough options and settings to satisfy the camera bug in all of us. Flash and movies come out great. Buy one and see.
Review: I bought my camera at Abe's of Maine, a Nikon authorized dealer, after trying to buy one at 4 stores with lower prices but pushed add-ons and then canceled my order after I did not buy any add-ons. I love the camera. I took it on a trip over Thanksgiving ...

Epinions Good overall camera

by  dadrumma,  Mar 13, 2005
Pros: Highly recommended, 10x zoom, clear/sharp pictures, VR, great video, price
Cons: write speed, noise in higher ISO's, manual focus
The Bottom Line: Great for serious amateurs who don't want the hassle of bulky SLR equipment.
Review: I bought this camera because it had all the features I wanted. The closest Nikon with VR costs way more than this one, and with 10x zoom the VR is necessary. Takes amazing pictures in daylight, and at night with long exposures. If you want to take ...

Epinions The best for the price (at the moment)

by  rideout1,  Dec 18, 2004
Pros: Love the ML-L3 remote control, it gets you in the picture.
Cons: I hate the special batteries required.
The Bottom Line: Excellent features at an excellent price makes this camera a stand-out.
Review: Here is some buying information. (1) The first thing you will need is a compact flash card, and here is what Nikon has to say as of 11/11/04 Nikon has tested the following cards and approved their use in the Coolpix 8800: Nikon FC-CF All ...

by  fredly47,  Jul 15, 2005
Pros: excellent lens, battery life, picture quality, ease of use, weight, and LCD screen
Cons: price, bulky, slow to write to card
Review: I am not a professional photographer or experienced reviewer. I only know that I like this camera so much that I want to share with anyone considering it's purchase. I already owned an Olympus c720 and a Nikon 3100. I liked the 8X lens on one and the ...

by  ec1213,  Dec 9, 2004

Epinions Highly recommended - a great alternative to a DSLR

by  tio_pepe,  Mar 31, 2005
Pros: Good quality lens; Vibration Reduction feature; 10x zoom; compact, lightweight & easy to use
Cons: Should be a safety catch on battery compartment - falls out too easily on opening
Review: Don't fall into the trap of believing that a digital SLR is the only choice for the serious photographer! I own a Nikon 8800 & it is an excellent alternative to a DSLR - much lighter, more compact & much easier to carry around. It does everything from ...
